Every act of kindness creates lasting hope.

Because of supporters like you, families facing challenges with autism diagnosis in Northwest Ohio find connection, relief, and opportunity when they need it most.

Your generosity doesn’t just change lives, it brings hope, encouragement, and a sense of belonging to children and parents throughout our community.

Real Stories. Real Impact.

At Project iAm®, we believe that every child and family navigating an autism diagnosis deserves not just support, but understanding, compassion, and opportunity. Our mission goes beyond financial assistance—we strive to foster a community where families feel empowered, informed, and truly seen.

Unlike many programs that take a one-size-fits-all approach, Project iAm® meets families where they are. We listen to their unique stories, connect them with essential resources, and provide scholarships tailored to each family’s needs. Our volunteers, donors, and partners work hand-in-hand to ensure that no family feels alone on their journey.

Your Support. Their Success.

The story behind Project iAM.

Sometime in the fall of 2007, over some much-needed cocktails at Doc Watson’s, Nicole Khoury and Dave Carpenter dreamed up the name “Acoustics for Autism” for a musical benefit. At first, it was just a great idea shared between friends.

By January 2008, Nicole brought the idea to life, planning what she thought would be a small benefit for a cause close to her heart. Witnessing the struggles of friends facing the financial burdens of having a child with autism, she knew more support was needed. Acoustics for Autism was born.

On March 9, 2008, an overwhelming crowd showed up to The Village Idiot in Maumee, Ohio, for the premier event of Project iAm. That first benefit raised nearly $10,000, all of which was donated to local providers and designated for children’s treatments. Project iAm was officially launched.

From its beginning, Project iAm has focused on providing support, resources, and financial assistance to families affected by autism in the Toledo area. Our mission is to help families move quickly from diagnosis to effective treatment—no matter what school of thought or type of care they choose. We believe every child’s needs are unique, so we do not promote one kind of treatment, education, or provider over another.

We are 100% volunteer-based and unaffiliated with any specific local or national organizations. Aside from basic operating expenses, every dollar we raise goes directly into our scholarship fund to help families get the care their children deserve. Project iAm is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, and our greatest hope is that parents will have the resources to get their children diagnosed early so they can begin living their fullest lives.
