Prepared to Respond with Care.

Project iAm is dedicated to supporting families living with autism by connecting them with essential resources, education, and community partners. Through our collaborations with first responders and local organizations, we help create safer, more inclusive environments for individuals on the autism spectrum.

First Responder Sensory Kits.

The First Responder Sensory Kit program began as a collaborative effort between Project iAm and ASNO, driven by the shared goal of supporting individuals with autism in emergency situations. With the generous backing of the Hussman Foundation and community donations, the first 50 kits were assembled for local Police, Fire, and EMS agencies. The program officially launched on September 13, 2021, in partnership with Chief Lobo and Chief Sprow of Maumee Fire and Police, marking an important milestone in our commitment to making Lucas County safer and more inclusive for all.

Now, as we work to expand across all of Lucas County, we are providing both education and supplies for our First Responders, while collecting data and feedback on the program’s impact. If you’d like to support this project, whether financially or with product donations, please consider donating using the button below, or fill out the form at the bottom of this page to connect us with companies willing to contribute supplies (a great way for companies to make a difference and promote their business).

What’s Included in a Kit?
Each First Responder Sensory Kit is carefully assembled to help police, fire, and EMS personnel provide effective support to individuals with autism during emergencies. Kits contain noise-reducing headphones, sensory tools, and visual communication cards—resources specifically chosen to help calm and assist individuals experiencing sensory overload or distress.
